    Are our after market tanks legal ?

    I am thinking Defender primarily, but it probably applies to other makes/models

    10sectionlmfuelsystems.pdf

    (when i upload i get 10sectionlmfuelsystems.pdf:
    Invalid File ) , looks like pdf no go
    and specifically,

    Any fuel tank or fuel system component must be at least 100mm inboard of the OEM
    permanent body work (excluding the filler neck and assembly);

    Any sill or wheel arch tank would break this rule, plus there is the need for certification

    and
    MODIFICATIONS THAT MAY BE CERTIFIED
    The following modifications may be performed under the Section LM Codes:
    ? Fitting an additional or replacement fuel tank and associated componentry;
    ? Fitting a surge tank;
    ? Installing a Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LP Gas) fuel system; and
    ? Installing a Natural Gas (NG) fuel system.
    The design installation and fabrication requirements for all of the above modifications are
    contained in sub-section 2 General Requirements and also in the relevant sub-sections 4 and 5.
    Note: Codes LM2 and LM3 are not utilised in Queensland

    This all started from wondering if sand tracks were considered a protrusion if fitted to the side of a roof rack, doesn't pay to look sometimes.
    By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.
    apologies to Socrates

    Yesterday I enquired at TJM for a long range tank for my Isuzu ute. They quoted and said there was an additional $100 to get certification. So I assume in that case the tank should be legal.

    Smile tanks

    I have a Long Ranger tank in my RC Colorado(Isuzu) and it has a certification plate attached to it. The tank was originally made for and fitted into a RA Rodeo and fits perfectly into the Colorado.
