Thread: bonnet release help needed

dose anyone have a good way of opening a bonnet on a defender that has a broken bonnet release. i dont know what exactly is wrong but when you pull the cable it is tight and comes out about 4 inches and nothing happens. there dosnt seem to be enough room to get to the actual locking bit on the bonnet.

try and lever the catch manually with a screw driver through the grill....


you should just be able to see it....



when you pull on the cable is it just the centre wire that comes out 4 inches?

or does the black casing come out as well?


if the casing is coming out as well you will need to hold this still and pull on just the centre wire to pop the bonnet.
if its just the centre wire that comes out it has either slipped through the clamp on the catch or broken.
