I have toyed a little with the idea of doing this, as I did like the Rangie seats. A set of electric RRC seats reupholstered to match the puma interior would be nice... At risk of a thread hijack, can I ask a few questions; were you able to retain the tilt adjustment of the seats? Is knee clearance under the steering wheel okay? How do you access the battery compartment?
And I just gave a pair of these away Peter:(
Righto Righto you blokes any suggestions for
The fitting of the rear seats. .....
Might be best to whip out the defender seats
Then see what's best 😞
Isn't the defender a fair bit narrower than the discovery? I put a set of Rangie seats into a discovery, was a straight swap, but would be surprised if they would fit into a defender.
I had a set of the electric RRC seats but they would not fit due to the motors underneath so ended up putting manual ones in. No problem keeping the tilt adjuster and no problem with knee clearance to the steering wheel (I'm 6'2" tall). I set the seats up so that they hinge at the back. You take out the two retaining bolts at the front, adjust the seat forward and tilt the backrest forward and then tilt the whole lot back on the hinges, plenty of room to get to the batteries and the same on the drivers side to get to the under seat storage, I moved the ECU into an X Box under the cubby.
How about putting the old Defender front seats into the rear but you lose the possibility of having three people back there. That's what I've been thinking of doing and possibly putting in one of those small fridges into the middle spot. It would mean making a frame to hold the seats etc and I'm sure that it would need some sort of approval.
Hmmm maybe I should do a bit of measuring
I'll get back to you guys on that one 😞
