discovery seats into a 130 defender

Righto team info and opinions needed

I have removed the lower seat frames and
Now have a nice flat base to work with. Now
    the question is ........
The Disco seat rails are shorter in length and narrower
    In wide,but not by much
Would you think it would be fine to weld a flat steel bar
to the bottom of the runners to get the extra width and
Length then I can use the original mounting points
Seems fairly easy way of doing it ....

    Cheers Ray

Ray, I did this with my rangie when installing recaro's, I used a piece of 50 x 8 flat bar and countersunk bolts, bolted the bar to the seat base, then the seat rails to the bar, passed engineering..
You should use rangie seats though as you get the armrests

How do the Rangie seats go for width in the Defender? I do miss my armrests.

Some D2 seats have armrests as well and they're just as uncomfortable as the RR's

I'd suggest stick with non armrest D1 seats, mount them inboard a few mm to get outboard clearance, and make a new "cubby box" if you must and then make it the correct height for armrest position.

I'm assuming disco seats are higher than defender. measure clearance between your thigh and steering wheel now and then further subtract the extra height of the disco seats. Then work out whether you can still use the clutch without your thigh hitting the steering wheel.

Just a thought before you get too far into it.

I'm guessing the biggest challenge will be installing
the D2 rear seats into the defender

    Any ideas? ?
