    ARB Locker Compressor Help Needed.

I have an ARB compressor that I am in the process of fitting to my disco.

As well as using it for my soon to be fitted Ashcroft lockers I want to also be able to use it to pump up tyres and latter on plumb it into my SLS.

It has two solenoids on the tank. When the compressor is running with no power to the solenoids air is coming out of ports A.

When the solenoids are activated air is switched to port B. This is obvious to me that port B is the supply for the locker.

How do I get air for other functions? Ports A are far too small to be able to pipe air from them.

    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Ports A are the return vents that release pressure when the solenoids are not activated; shouldn't be pressurised from the compressor at all.
You have 3 tapped air outlets on the compressor- two of them have solenoids screwed in and the third has the pressure switch screwed in. To get a fourth port for tyre inflation etc, you need to fit a T connector to one of the three. Best way to do this is to remove the pressure switch, screw a T fitting into that port, put your pressure switch on one leg of the T and a female air connector (jamac or similar) on the other leg of the T.
If you take your compressor in to any industrial supply (like a bearing supply), they should be able to give you exactly the right fittings to do this.
Check and see if there is another tapped port on the other side of the compressor, perhaps opposite where the pressure switch is, on the black end casting? Will be plugged with an allen-keyed plug if there is, in which case you can just fit a female jamac fitting straight in. Or a barbed hose fitting if you want to leave a hose connected permanently.

Thanks Pod. The tee in the pressure switch was what I had envisaged. But I have air coming out of ports A when solenoids have no power.

When I bench tested it I powered it through the pressure switch. It should have only run for a few seconds until the manifold reached 100psi.

It just kept running though because air was coming out of ports A.

I have acquired a RRC with one of these under the driver seat plumbed up the way you want, i.e. runs Maxi lockers F & R with pressure rather than vacuum, and pumps tyres.

Can take a pic tomorrow of what goes where tomorrow if you want.

    cheers, DL

Thanks 350RRC. No need though, POD has nailed it. He reckons the solenoids are back to front. I took it into my local ARB store this morning and they said the same thing.

I am yet to reverse them and try, but after looking at it I have no doubt that this will solve the problem.

    Thanks everyone for your help.
