yep, totally agree with previous post. A single tankful is hardly a scientific assessment - the real effect is apparently noticed after a few tankfuls. Also, a lot of people add too much - I've started adding 100mls/80l tank on Tdi Disco - you will benefit from a higher percentage with petrol...will keep you posted with results... My motorbike is worth more than Disco which has a high kay motor in any case - hence the latter is the guinea pig...(although I s'pose I could have started with the lawnmower...)

So feraldisco, what are the results?

as I've said in other threads on Acetone, I'll leave the experimenting in diesels up to others.
The lubricity of diesel has been dramatically reduced with the introduction of 50ppm sulphur, and the pump in particular uses the fuel for lubrication and cooling.
If I was using acetone, I'd be adding something along the lines of an ashless two stroke lube as well.
Instead of playing fuel chemist, I just add Redline's RL2 diesel additive instead. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/

As I have sid in a previous post on the subject I have trialled it in my diesel (over 9 tank fulls) and it makes absolutely no difference to fuel or economy and seems to be a waste of time. Makes a funny smell too.Tried it on my carby Duc and no difference either.

I tried it also in the TD5 but it too made no difference after several tankfulls

what sort of car/series ?
back when I raced (F/Ford, over ten years ago), we were often fuel tested. Track fuel only, either Avgas or Shell V8 unleaded, then only the Shell V8 stuff. And no mixing between Avgas and Race unleaded. They would come along with an electronic tester and either drop it in the tank or draw fuel off just before the carby. Any irregularites and a sample went off to the lab.
