CDL MISSING presumed Ignored.

Hi Gents,

My 02 Disco HAS NO CDL. Not a lever, not a bolt on the Tcase, Nuthin!!! So, Can you install the actuator on the diff and leave the original, low kms original CDL there. Or do you have to buy a whole new CDL/Transfer case. I'm wondering if the casing is going to be OK, or can you put all the new bits in an old case. John Davis has quoted $3300, Coopers about $2500 with a swap of my diff!.

Early early planning stages at the moment but curious.

This will blow your socks off.

You do have a CDL, it's just the mechanism's for engaging it have been removed.

You can buy a kit so that you can engage it. Sonebody will be along to tell you who has them and for how much soon I expect

yes, there is a kit for them and they are not too hard to fit yourself if you are the DIY type. You can have then fitted for about $100 I think.

Is your Disco a 2002 model (that what you have written). This particular year they removed the entire mechanism from the T/case and you ahve nio option to fit one. A mate in the club has a 02 Dosco and can't fit one, but the stupid thing is that LR realised that they would fit the CDL to the 03 update. How dumb is that ops:

Just check that you can do this before forking out your money.

Good luck,

Trav

That's what I mean, there is a diff in there, just no locking mechanism. no bolt on top, no actuator arm inside the tranny, nothing. And If I buy a Series 1 tranny and bolt it on, then I've got the new car with the transfer from an old car with unknown origins.

I just want the case, and the arm, and keep the nice new diff mechanism.

Can it be done Scotty, can she take some More!!!!

My '01 Disco had the CDL lever and I had the AMV kit fitted - huge improvement in handling. I can now tackle sand without a problem in high or low range with the ABS and TC disconnected.
From memory the kit was about $550 and cost about $150 to have installed (including prepurchase transfer case check and research on system options).
Sorry mrapocalypse but I haven't heard of anyone changing their transfer case if the lever wasn't there to start with.

The word I get is that there is no CDL mechanism in the '02 mod disco Thats why I bought an '01!
I think Ritters (Vic) may be able to help but you may need to take some blood thinning drugs before you get the quote or risk a long stay in a cardiac unit

Yep, that's right. Between late 2001 and sometime in 2002 the Disco was made without a CDL (not even the nut on top) and the only way to change this is to swap the transfer case. 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

So you're original prices of around $3000 were right.
