Air con probs.
My 2010 Deafeners aircon has developed a leak behind the pulley and I'm having problems with the repair.
Firstly it was re-gassed approx. 7 weeks ago after the recommended mobile technician couldn't find a leak. Then ran out of gas again so a call bought him back fairly quickly.
Checked right through and took the pulley off and clutch (Sanden compressor) and prised off a thin plate and a felt seal behind it and then could see with his blue light a small seepage.
He had the compressor supposedly resealed by someone else but they didn't have either the felt seal or cover plate which are necessary to keep dust out.
He's put the thin plate back in (but no felt seal) after trying to make it look better by bashing all the gouges and tears made during removal and intends to regas and reckons that'll do the job.
I'm distinctly unimpressed at the ham fisted removal of the parts or his inability to source replacements to finish the job and the fact that our lovely red dust will soon wear the thing out very quickly.
Auto Spark also reckon it will fail pretty quick and advise they wouldn't have even bothered trying to repair it and would have just replaced the compressor with a new none LR model (much cheaper than their quoted 2.1K plus labour, gas etc.) which would do a good job. They further advised that it would be very hard to get the replacement seal and cover.
I've already told the mobile bloke I intend to seek legal advice on my options. Didn't impress him one bit.
I think I may let him have the "refurbished" compressor which he can flog to some unsuspecting mug who will only drive in the city and get Auto Spark to fit a new job.
What do others reckon is the best way round this problem?
Cheers.
