    DC UJ replacement Melbourne

    Hi all,
Bit of bother here. I live in an apartment in Southbank Melbourne and noticed today that the rear most universal on the DC joint is wobbly. It was the clunking and vibration that gave the game away.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a good universal joint replacerer in the inner burbs of Melb?

I am kinda in a rush as I want to go with the Vic lads to Big River this weekend and I am away for work come Wed lunchtime.

I am a bit annoyed actually as the entire DC was rebuilt about 5 years ago and I grease the joints regularly. Maybe I miss this one! All the other UJ's appear ok, as I can't get any movement with a pry bar. Prob change both on the DC though.

    Cheers
    Ralph

If you can get just the driveshaft to them, Universal Driveshaft Services, Gracie St in North Melbourne may be able to help Home | UDSV. They have done some work on driveshafts for me in the past and have been OK. They don't remove the shaft from the vehicle though, just work on the supplied parts.

I'll give them a ring tomorrow. I can remove it, just a PITA to do it from underneath and to lug around lol.

Yes but the trick is in the doin'! The DC joint has a goochie little ball type needle joint between the UJ's. I think it keeps the joints in angular harmony or some junk like that. One wrong move and pizzowy, roller needles and bits everywhere lol.
Ask me how I know lol

The UJ's are same as others though.

    Cheers

Okies, quick update and close off.
I was able to purchase a replacement near newish unit off another forum member. Fitted it no worries.

Closer inspection of the removed one revealed a particularly worn UJ. This is disturbing as I only had it rebuilt about 5 years/60k ago. I keep the grease up to them as well.
I can only suspect I over greased and dislodged the rubber grease cap or I simply missed this nipple often enough to make a difference.

I'll look around now to have it rebuilt then flog it to the next needy disco driver.

    Cheers
