    Whining noise - Turbo related????

Hi guys, I am back again after finally getting my D1 on the road after overheating and stuffing up the head. I have put another head on the Beast. Done the Timing belt and bearings in kit, new water pump, Thermostat, New expansion tank cap Gaskets etc etc. Thanks to the help from you guys I can eventually drive my D1. BUT, I have obviously done something wrong. This is what happens:

When I rev the motor whist parked, all seems well. When I drive there is a loud whistling type noise when I accelerate. Once I reach the speed I want and am not accelerating the noise almost disappears. What do you guys reckon I might have done?? In anticipation, thank you.

Whining or a whistling sound? Could be the exhaust manifold gasket. I had a similar problem when I replaced my turbo and turned out to be a small leak in the manifold gasket. Some fool (me :banghead didn't fit the gasket properly when refitting the manifold

Could be the manifold gasket. Dos anybody know which way round the manifold gasket goes?

I put the side with the metal protection against the head.

Thumbs up Thank you all - Problem solved

Job done guys. It was 2 manifold bolts I had not tightened up. Time to put in the Coolant and fit my temperature alarm system as the Landrover Temp gauge just doesn't tell the truth and has cost me a lot of money. See ya all - Gerry (wedgetail37)
