300tdi Defender Air Con Ignition Feed - where does it come from?

Can anyone tell me where the ignition pick-up (white wire) comes from for the 300tdi Air Con system?

I have pulled apart the plug in the battery box with the white and red wires, and I'm not getting 12v on the white wire with the ignition on (I actually get 0.01v). Where do I trace it back to? Have checked all fuses in cab fuse box and they are all good.

You may be better off tracing the wire yourself. While the A/C is an AMC kit, they were fitted by the vehicle processing centres around Australia so you might find each one had their own way of installing/wiring it.

This comment solved a really frustrating problem I'd been having with the air-conditioning in my 300 tdi Defender, which had decided to stop working (the airconditioning, not the Defender). I'd been dicking round trying to work out what was what with the elctricals and getting frustrated. So I searched all AULRO posts on 300 tdi Defender airconditioning and came across the quoted post. So, now enthused, I went back to the cigar lighter (which I don't use) and found the piggyback connector mentioned above. Then I discovered that there was no power to the cigar lighter as the fuse for the lighter had blown. Once fuse replaced the Air-conditioning roars back to life!!

Moral of story - if your air-conditioning fails on a 300 tdi Defender, then do the obvious thing and check the fuse for the cigar lighter!
