you cant turn some parts of NIS off even if you want to, thats just one little part of it's problems...Quote:

Back to tyre pressures not computer problems!
In sand driving the most important factors are driving technique, tyre outside diameter and pressure. Width is only a factor insofar as it allows you to operate at a lower pressure.
The less tread the better, but it is not a major factor.
Radial tyres are preferable but only because they allow operation at a lower pressure than crossplys before being damaged.
Tubes are better, but only because they allow you to operate at a lower pressure than tubeless - but if the pressure is so low the tyre turns on the rim you are likely to tear the valve out.
Use as low a pressure as is necessary - for a reasonably loaded Landrover this will be no lower than about 15psi depending on the sand and the driver, but you should be able to get away with about 12psi on tubes if you are careful. However, you need to remember that any speed for long on this sort of pressure will rapidly wreck your tyres, especially if they are crossply.

I have run the Rocket-mobile on both Bar-treads and on Road Track Majors both Conventionals,7.50 x 16 in 6ply and 8ply, I run at 25 lb front 28 lb rear -- up it to 30 rear if carrying a load, have dropped my pressures to Army specs on the plate in deep soft sand, but on damp beach sand stayed on road pressures, Seeing that you have a Holden in yours you could probably run 22-4 lb in the front as there is less engine weight, but no lower for road as the tyres will heat up the walls to quick, and remember that Conventionals when left standing in cool weather will develop Flat-Spots I.E. the bottom of the tyre goes flat and when you move off they will feel like you have SQUARE WHEELS 8O until the tyres warm up ---4/6 KLMs [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img] it is normal with Convent's just ask Incisor :wink: Remember that the higher the gear the less wheel spin & better progress 8) pick your gear and best/most suitable speed experience will tell you what's best [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif[/img]
