Thread: missing gearbox bolt

<span style="color:green">its called a wading plug.....it comes in the tool kit when you buy a new landy and usually gets lost before you need it.....

it is supposed to be fitted before fording or wading (driving through water crossings) to prevent any water/mud getting into the bell housing....</span>

Now I'm really worried, 'cos the fella who had it before me really liked mud.

<span style="color:green">if you plug up that hole the clutch will get full of oil from the rear main oil leaks.....

they are removed so that any oil that leaks past the rear main oil seal
and the input shaft seal can run out and away from the clutch.....


if all is working ok dont stress.....you will be surprised how little mud will actually get in while the vehicle is moving.....</span>

From what I remember there is also a wading plug somewhere on the front of the engine on the TDI. I only fitted these once the first time I crossed water.
