Fair enough. Just it was so out of character for the car. I doubt much harm was done, and I'm actually sort of glad as its forced my hand to get a number of things done I've been putting off.

OK, after all the faffing around with the crank pulley bolt, I have the belt fitted. Time to put the head back on. The head was taken down .005", and the valves were seated to suit.

I noticed something though. It looks to me like there should be a roll pin type dowel on the front post of the rocker shaft. I don't remember seeing one. So, have I lost it, or wasn't there one there at all?

Isnt that the oil feed hole for the rocker gear ?
No there is no roll pin or dowel missing , on my old head its just a chamfered hole.
