I noticed something though. It looks to me like there should be a roll pin type dowel on the front post of the rocker shaft. I don't remember seeing one. So, have I lost it, or wasn't there one there at all?

Isnt that the oil feed hole for the rocker gear ?
I think so. That's why I'm asking. I'm unsure if there should be a roll pin or sleeve that fits in there to make sure the oil is fed.Quote:

No there is no roll pin or dowel missing , on my old head its just a chamfered hole.
