I believe it is of a similar diameter yes ( I've never actually measueed one i usually just toss the worn out hemisphere straight in the bin...) however the pin is pressed and pinned into the hemisphere in the D2 whereas the D1 diffs have a 'floating' pin retained at each end with an outside circlip. Neither design is of any use for real work. I have seen many D2 pins shear the rolled retaining pin after working themselves loose in the casting and dropping out in one direction of another. Usually just clunking from side to side into the inner edge of the crownwheel..
