is the rear door liner the same on all model defenders?

I would say no. The one on my 03 model is moulded and shaped in such a fashion to be quite different to what I recall was on a TDi model I had quite a few years ago.

As an aside and while chequer plating talk has been around. A guy at work got a bit keen with the chequer plating and made himself a chequer plate liner for his rear door. He uses the Defender to carry work tools and gear and figured a new liner was going to go the way of the old one so chequer plate it is. It works for him.
