As a chemistry teacher, i can safely say that is bull****. For ionisation to occur, something would need to be added to the fuel to cause a chemical reaction, where atoms gain and loose electrons, placing a magnet on the outside wouldnt do a freakin thing. Even if it did work its not because of ionisation, and lining up as few molecules is definitely not ionisation, and there would be a few more atoms/molecules than depicted in their picture. Some people are just plain ignorant, before you claim something is happening, it would generally pay to do some research first. Matt
Unfortunately, after teaching science to most high school students in Australia for at least sixty years, this sort of thing still finds buyers! Problem with teaching?
Nope. Problem with listening.

Chances are it is crap, most of these things are. There have not been too many fuel saving devices that actually work well enough to justify fitting.
    Having said that

QUOTE

Ask Peter Brock
The unit introduced by HDT and Peter Brock in the late 1980's was not intended as a fuel saving device, but as a performance modification. Peter was the first to admit that he did not understand how it worked only it did. This ultimately led to Holden and Peter Brock parting ways. Sometime later Holden had to admit publicly that the unit did actually work as was intended. The real reason behind the split was that HDT was getting too successful as a business and GM wanted a bigger piece of the pie and did not want to share it with HDT and Peter Brock.

Had to laugh reading that ad. Big load of BS. Whilst they may have some idea about how to spin sh*t, I'm surprised they don't include a free set of steak knives to entice buyers. Besides, it can't be that good as it hasn't been on Today Tonight yet!

    well...it definitely works.......

    maybe not for lining molecules.....
but rather for lining someones pocket....

i have heard that the theory behind the old magnet 'round the fuel line trick, has something to do with breaking down the "long chain molecules" in the fuel allowing it to be more completely burnt/utilised.
now i've got nothing to back this up, i'm an electrician not a chemist, i'm just repeating what i heard. i reckon that if it saves anything on it's own, it would be an almost unmeasurable amount.
the guy i heard it from sells the performafuel gizmos that were recently featured in a lroc news product test. the performafuel did work. it either gave you more power or better economy, depending how you drive. these utilise the rare earth magnets to maintain a constant pressure on the tin pellets in the unit to ensure release of tin particles.
if you're a lroc member, you can read it on the website...www.lroc.com.au

Thats about it, sure some teachers are crap, i had a few in my years at school, but i delivered the chem course to a group of students from yr 11 into 12 during 03-04 and they knew the stuff in class, but a lack of revision and study means the kids dont remember the information. As the saying goes, you can lead the horse to water but you cant make it drink. Many kids today dont do any study at home, which is irritating as a teacher because i teach some very bright kids.

If people had paid attention at school or did some basic research on the net they would know what Ionisation really was and stop them selves from being ripped off. Matt
