Repair broken Stromberg CD175 fuel fittings

While the steering in my 101 is being sorted I'd thought I'd give my carbies a little love as one had started leaking and they generally were looking sorry.

The first one has been cleaned and assembled but before I say its finished I want to sort out the broken choke fuel line and bent and twisted fuel chamber vent line. These fuel lines appear to be a press fit and so far the only thing I can think of for the vent line is to somehow pull/drill it out and tap and fit a screw in fuel fitting.

For the choke fuel line I could either solder on the old fitting, do the same as above or even simply cap it as I rarely use the choke if it all.

Any ideas on sensible approaches to fixing the above? Am I wasting my time? I do have some other cd175's but they have emmissions gear, auto choke and all sorts on them so different holes have been tapped. That and the throttle spindle bushings on mine are lovely and tight. My googling has brought up nothing on this topic and magically all the rebuild articles and forum threads around the place seem to have perfect fuel fittings.

    Cheers,
    Stu

edit* reason for fixing at this stage of rebuild is the last dodgy fix on the choke line gave way on re-assembly and the vent line has always been like that. Thought if I'm fixing the choke line I may as well sort the vent line. but if I cap the choke line, the vent line will stay as is.

I am unable to determine which thread or fitting you are trying to repair/change /replace.
I recall that a long while ago a lot of solder on fittings where used for petrol fittings but these can usualy be changed to a later type.
Speco had a lot of fuel fittings a long time ago and also aeroquip has many.
Have you tried Industrial Fittings Sales ?
They have an amazing range of fittings availableas well.

Circled in red. I'm thinking of just leaving the vent and soldering the choke line. Just wanted to see if there was any easy way of fixing these properly.

With out seeing the thing first hand.........I am guessing.
Get a pair of pliers and twist / pull out the remainder of the pipe in the carby( it should be a pressed in fit).
Find a new piece of steel or copper fuel pipe, sweat a olive on it and press it back in the hole with the fitting also on the new pipe.
I find on my 101 if playing around with the carbies it is possible for the steel fittings and small fuel pipes to come out of the carby housing.
I just knock them back into place with a very small hammer.

Thanks Ron. Success on the vent line. I'll make sure I can get a pipe that fits the choke line before I mangle it with pliers as it can still be soldered.
