The injector cutoff on overrun is good for about X%?( maybe 3-5?) better fuel economy.
You could probably make a VSS signal with a propshaft sensor for a cruise control if you were that keen.
BTW all 14CUX has provision for o2 sensors but the wiring is not fitted for Australia. I did a how to several years ago . It is good for economy as it runs at 14.7 :1 when in closed loop and also covers problems with MAF and TPS as the sensors become the primary mixture sensor once the engine is warm. I accidentally drove mine for a year without a TPS and hardly noticed it , only from no injector cutoff.LOL

Following info from p38arover's 14cux doco:
The VSS is located on the left hand side of the frame on early models, and on the left hand side of the transfer case on later models.
It informs the ECM when vehicle speed is above or below 3 mph / 5km/h.
This information is used by the ECM to ensure that the idle air control valve (IACV) is moved to a position to prevent a stall when the vehicle comes to a stop.
Code DTC 68 will be displayed if the MAF is greater than 3V at 2000-3000 RPM's

I can't see how enabling the VSS will reduce stalling, unless the IAC is too slow to react as the vehicle pulls up. Making sure the base idle is set high enough should prevent stalling. I suspect that apart from the cut-off of the injectors on over run, there would be an emissions reduction associated with more air but little fuel on decel. Not something I'd worry about on a project vehicle that's from an earlier period than the 14CUX. Anyway, I had the 14CUX County in my hands yesterday for a tune and there's no sign of stalling even if you bomb around a roundabout with your foot on the clutch.
Regarding the immobiliser: I was absolutely assured by the seller that the EFI was from a Disco 2. I did some research on the immobiliser part number and found that it was only used in Disco 1 and Defenders for several years (photo attached). Its no wonder all of the wiring diagrams didn't match what I had on the bench in front of me and why forum advice wasn't quite making sense.
So, with this cleared up, can you tell me if I can just cut the immobiliser out of the loom?
