I'd be interested to hear how they perform too. Having just the back door repaired a second time. Damn trees.
My local doof-doof supplier won't instal them if theres a chance they'll get submerged. And theirs don't work well with alumium, they don't know why. All sorts of troubles with utes & alloy trays.
So its got to be camera.

There seems to be a problem with fitting these ultrasonic detectors to metal. My D3 has these on the front and ARB state not to have them retrofitted from the plastic bumber to the ARB BB. ARB couldn't get them to work properly on their D3 and they couldn't tell me why. They think it has something to do with the steel BB.Quote:

My guess would be that they like little metal detectors and if they have too much metal around them they can't detect properly.

As for the water I would wonder how much experience the doof-doof suppliers have in this area :wink: .Time will tell but an externally mounted device like this is exposed to the elements anyway and the rear of the car actually attracts a lot of water and crap due to the negative pressure.Quote:

This metal thing is interesting. I experimented with the location before finally fixing them including the steel bar and there didn't seem to be a problem. If they are ultrasonic then what would cause the problem?
No instructions or directions with the unit.
The cynic in me thinks they are pushing you towards the camera...$$$$.
For $45 it might be worth the experiment.
I have a problem with reversing cameras as I find that reversing includes looking around.... front sides and rear so being "glued" to a front screen is limiting. I might be wrong.
BTW that is one of the reasons I put the speaker in the rear because naturally that is where your primary attention should be when you are reversing.Quote:

If you are looking for a reversing camera I can recommend this guy. I bought a touchscreen & camera setup a few weeks ago. I had a few probs with the screen drivers and he really bent over backwards to help me there.

I used to use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean stuff off metal. Maybe if you mount them on metal they clean the paint off. https://www.aulro.com/afvb/
