Thread: Defender tyre help needed

    That depends on your wheel offset/backspacing. Push the wheels out to get good steering lock, & they'll rub. Pull the wheels in to clear the flares & steering lock is diminished.

    I had 7" disco rims taken out to 8" with 1" less backspacing. Rear ETs initially rubbed a bit front & rear on the flares around town. One side was worse than the other, the axle must be slightly offset under the car.
    Better than std steering lock.

    Rubbing has stopped now, the flare has just worn away..

    The ute doesn't have the rear flares, and has stiffer springs. Sounding good for me with the 35's methinks...

    My Stock Defender with 33" ET's and off sets Rub just under Extreme articultaion... But i can live with it......

    I don't have bucks 3 spare, so if it is going to take more than some work on the flares I will give it a miss. If old 35s were cheap to pick up, or easy to borrow, I would try it out......

    Borrowing can be arranged, it kinda depends where you are though.
