dual battery in a disco 1....

Hi all, I have had a dual battery setup in the disco for a while now, just running a small deep cycle battery to run the fridge (Worked very well too),

But now that the battery has died I'm looking at moving it to where the jack and steering pump is and putting in a bigger deep cycle, I know it can be done, just need to see some pics of how people have moved the ignition coil and amplifier and also the steering pump resovior !!

Anyone help me out with some pics of there setup in a S1 disco v8 ???

    Thanks
    Matt.

If you had to relocate the steering pump reservoir and ignition stuff then, yes it will be helpful

What is the alloy box mounted between the battery and the radiator?

You mean between the battery and the guard, it's the dual battery controller, brought it from Dick Smith and made it up.

I am planning on doing the same thing with mine. As far as I know :? it doesn't matter where you move either the coil or the power steering reservoir. The coil is just a matter of either extending the wiring to wherever you mount it or re-routing it. Not so sure about the power steering ops: but as long as it's still connected it shouldn't matter either. Is there somewhere you can get Disco battery holders because it looks like it should fit straight into the space.

    OK.... Silly question time: :?

Why don't you put it where it's designed to go... i.e. on the opposite side to the main battery?

OK, I know there's an air filter there at the moment but that can be moved. The tray underneath is there for a second battery. In fact, the RaRo TurboD and Camel Discos all had their second batteries placed there before leaving the factory.

Yep that's where it's going, but the ignition coil and amplifier and also the steering pump resovior are currently in the way, also have my aftermarket cruise control setting there too.

Here is a pic of where the battery will go, the airbox isn't in this photo.

    FWIW......

The cruise control box might be able to fit under the tray (that's where it is on the RaRo & Disco).

You should be able to move the PS reservoir vith a small bracket.

The coil can be mounted almost anywhere but on the earlier vehicles it's on top of the wheel arch.
