no i dont have one of them.....

my towbar was fitted by arb.....i doubt they would have used the genuine harness....

when we used to fit towbars at work....we didnt use the genuine harness...
we used to just splice off the tail lights....

the only towbars that came with the genuine harness were the genuine land rover ones....
not many people were willing to pay one and a half times the price for a genuine....

infact i dont think any of the bull bars were genuine either....
nothing was stamped with the land rover oval.....
they may have been purchased by the dealership from the same manufacturer.....
but they certainly didnt come from LRA.....

Yeah... that's the bit I don't understand. I bought a genuine towbar because it was cheaper, and in the instructions it says to splice the wires off the lights. It even includes the little clips to tap in ?? Crazy 8O

Looking under the back tub of my 130, on the drivers side under the fuel cap there is what looks like a plug as described above to fit a trailer plug. This is a 1999 TD5 if that helps.

As the vehicle is bought second hand it has two cables already feeding the trailer plug, one looks like it is running off the back of the drivers side rear lights while the other cable seems to come almost all the way to the front of the vehicle. When I lost following it, it seemed to be under the drivers seat not heading to the battery box - any idea where this would be going?

Has anyone had any luck with buying a genuine plug or hot wiring from the existing plug?

My rig has 2 trailer plugs (big one and little one) both just spliced into the tail lights, and i have had no drama's, just got the single flash of the trailer light without a trailer and continuos flash when trailer fitted. Pretty good system imho.

Oil in the Harness, suspension knock, transmission clunk, engine oil leaks, exhaust manifold leaks, centrifugal oil filter stripped bolts, a/c leaks, door leaks, wouldn't trade it for the world

I think you mean YPC114860 - the Male connector that is fitted on the Land Rover 12N kit? (same as the Discovery II 12N kit)

    It's a Sumitomo DL Sealed Series 090/187 (2.3/4.8mm) HYBRID 9-way Male Housing, Sumitomo Part No. - 6195-0173

You will also need 7 x 090(2.3mm) and 2 x 187(4.8mm) Male Terminals, with the appropriate Wire Seals for each Terminal, and 2 x 090 Cavity Plugs for the two unused ways.

The two unused ways are not used by the 12N connection, they provide a Reverse Light feed (GN) and a Permanent Live (PN), which are used by the 12S socket.

The Land Rover 12S kit has the Green and Yellow wires pre-terminated with the correct terminals and seals.

The cavity plugs are removed from YPC114860 and these pre-terminated wires are plugged-in.

A list of Sumitomo part numbers for 090 and 187 Male Terminals, Wire Seals and Cavity Plugs to fit 6195-0173 can be found here -

The corresponding Female connector housing YPC114850, fitted to the vehicle's wiring loom, is Sumitomo part number - 6195-0170

A list of Sumitomo part numbers for 090 and 187 Female Terminals, Wire Seals and Cavity Plugs to fit 6195-0170 can be found here -

    SWS Components for Automobiles

The Sumitomo DL Sealed Series connectors Catalogue can be downloaded, here - http://swsct.sws.co.jp/components/series/pdf/dls.pdf

If you find a supplier for small quantites of these, I'd be interested to know.
