Well Trav I agree that for hard core only , the mechanical transfer is the Go.
But an LT230 is only 37 to 1 while an LT95 is 49 to 1.

The LT 95 is by far the best and strongest for hard core off road. The army still uses them, and its the only one that will live behind an Isuzu diesel.

I remember when I used to go downhill in front of the poncy LT230s in my old 77 Rangie. They were always climbing over me, so much so that I had to change to 2nd low to keep away from them.

Go the LT95.

I agree much so, I just like my auto that's the only reason I changed mine [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

They do have brilliant gearing though as you stated, 47:1 low first. I could of fixed mine for a couple of hundred I found out, would of been less work in the long run :oops: Funnily enough I find that I have almost as much control as my manual downhills mainly because I have had autos for years and you learn how to drive them as you know.
