my 86 vents just pry out from each side
Folks
I need to take out an aircon vent directional insert from the dash in order to fix up the directional fins.
What is the trick to getting this piece off.
I am reluctant to try the obvious prizing off as I suspect something will snap quite easily.
It is a 94 classic Rangie with SRS airbags, so essentially its a Series 1 Disco dash.
Any tips greatly apreciated
Cheers

OK did it :!: :!:
It was the centre console vent insert I was trying to remove as the fins had come loose from the little rod piece which keeps them all parallel. You cannot fix this without removing the vent insert.
For future reference.....
I'm guessing this is true for any series 1 disco dash.
There is a vent on each side of the radio head unit.
As part of the vent on the side furthest away from the radio there is a locator pin that goes into the dash. This is the anchor side.
Grasp the vent by the middle horizontal fin as close to the radio as possible as that is the side that pops out.
A firm pull and it unclips.
Cheers
