Why not fit one of DriveSafe's dual battery charge units?

That makes it $108 - which really compares well with buying the Electronic Australia kit and making one yourself. (I bought the kit but I probably wouldn't have had I known about Tim's product beforehand).

a basic solenoid operated off the ignition should do the trick, I had one installed in my rangie for a few years with no problems, i cannot remember what amps it was rated at 150amp maybe. i not sure what drivesafe supplies, it could be a smart solenoid which waits for the start battery to fully charge before it starts charging the aux battery. I currently have a manual swich commonly called an idiot switch cause me being the idiot has to remember to isolate and unisolate. I managed 16 days doing the simpson without forgetting. i have a solenoid sitting on the workshop bench as i was going to change the manual switch however this would have left a big hole in the console so the manual stays in place.

are you squezzing the aux battery next to the start battery or somewhere else.

Tony, if you like I can take pix of the dual battery installation in my County (done by the previous owner). It will fit two N70 sized batteries.

my theory is that the second battery will be in the circuit whilst ever the engine is running.... therefore charging.

the fender has a 120 amp alternator from factory as far as i know....
which should be plenty of oomph two charge up even two flat batteries....

as for using the electrikery gadgets.....i only decided to do this this morning.....and i am doing the full day today so cant run around to collect bits that i need.......the battery came to me at work.....

i only have tomorrow to get this done as i have to watch bathurst on sunday.......</span>

8O and power a small town at the same time !

Why not use to smaller size, more capacity batteries (eg. oddessy) instead of two lead acids if space is a problem?
