    REPLACING BROKEN SIDE WINDOW

    Good evening all,

Has anyone on the forum had this problem, replacing a side window of a ADF Defender. These windows are smaller than the normal Civie Defender as illustrated in the attached photo.

To replace the window I have to get the frame out of the side panel in order to get the second piece of glass to use as a template.

The window frame is "H" shaped and the inner side of the "H"daul is rivetted to the side panel. If I drill out the rivetts the frame still doesn't appear that it could be separated.

    Constructive suggestions welcome, Cheers.

They look like the rear truck cab windows.
If they, are its just a case of drilling the rivets and run some fishing line/ piano wire around the frame to cut any potential sealant.
    Carefully push outwards.
The frame then should have a join in the middle of the short section (vertical)with 4 screws holding the halves together with a joiner plate.

    Replacing broken side window.

    Good evening all,

Thanks to Weeds and Strangy for the suggestions.

Well things have progressed well the window frame is out with no damage done
to either the side panel of the Landrover or the Frame. I have cleaned off all the excess sealant. There are 4 phillips head screws on either vertical side to be undone which should seperate enough to remove the second piece of glass for a template.

James Glass and Glass 4 Classics both said they would be able to cut an excellent "armour /safety" glass copy from the original.

Will keep you all abreast as I complete the task. Cheers.
