Whats under the pasenger seat in that model???
My 2001 has both batteries under the front passenger seat. It works great they are tucked away out of sight and mind to most people.
Hi all, I want want to put in a second battery in a 96 defender crew cab and had a look under the bonnet and thought oh dear, 8O
best talk to the proffesionals, can any one give me advise on where to put the second battery

Assuming yours is a 300tdi and that the battery compartment is in the same place as in the 110's, then you can actually squeeze in a second battery in the same under-seat compartment as the original battery...
I'm sure someone here has pictures they can show you...

Single battery under passenger seat, although the batteries in my Defenders have always been so big that there wouldn't be much space for the second.
1996 130 Dual cab.
There's always the driver's side bin for the second.
On my 120" the second battery was on an outrigger welded to the chassis just behind the cab on driver's side.
