Cd Changer - its gone!!

The eurovox will cost app 200 to fix as all 5 switches need replacing. This is a common fault with the eurovox and the sony equivalent. The eurovox is a rebadged sony CDX55.

They are a very very good unit and this is really the only thing that goes wrong except for when the laser dies.
Error 99 means mechanism jam for whatever reason, in your case due to the switches giving the micro false info and the micro acting on the wrong info jamming the whole thing.
I have had the sony/ eurovox in all my rangies but have just upgraded to a JVC DVD player as per Garry,s comments as on dvd mp3 disc plays a bloody lot of music and no skipping
The model I have is the KDXV1 which I got for $550.00 normally $1100 but I have seen them now for 750 at JB hifi.
I am still using 1 disc in it with heaps of music and its Bloody Great plus I have now more room in the back where the original stacker was, so as technology goes forward so things sometimes get better it all depends on what u want to do but do have a look at the dvdmp3 players

I just bought a Belkin F8V367-APL TuneCast FM transmitter ($50 at Dick Smiths) for my wife's MP3 player.

It's marginal at best. The volume on the MP3 player has to be at maximum to get sufficient drive for the FM transmiitter, otherwise there is a fair bit of background noise in the car stereo.

I run an iPod in the Defender. I use the Griffin RoadTrip. I've heard bad stories about every other FM transmitter. This one has a full range of FM bands you "narrowcast" on. It runs off the 12v plug and thus recharges your iPod at the same time. It does not run off the iPod battery so it's a good and powerful signal.

On a trip up north recently cars following me could tune in and listen too. Then they stated radioing in requests. Using the UHF I stepped in as DJ and announced track names and gave them some info on the artists etc. Hours of fun for the whole convoy.

They got a bit cheeky actually. "What's this cr@p? We want Roy, We want Roy!"

I'm running a Belkin iTrip in the disco on my iPod and get a slight static noise to it (even though i'v gotten use to it)... the iPod is plugged into 12v while driving but maybe not as powerful as the Roadtrip (which i must admit i did contemplate getting).

But also the disco has the antenna built in to the rear windscreen so could be that... not sure of the setup on a fender [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

And mainly set this up as my stacker starting giving similar errors after water flooding my floor :roll:

We returned it to Dickies yesterday for a refund. It was useless.

Elisabeth's birthday is just before Xmas so I might get here a new car stereo with MP3 CD capability.

Does anyone have any suggestions. A 3.5mm input jack would alloow the MP3 player to be plugged in.

Try a JVC KD-DV6105 - AM/FM radio, plays CDs, MP3s, WMAs, DVDs - has line in on the front for the Ipod (not that you will need it) - aux in the back - will play MP3s from a DVD disk (up to 9.4 G instead of 720mb). Add a screen and watch DVDs too - screen can also be used for your GPS or computer.

Has good sound without additional amps.

Head unit about $450 on e-bay (new) or $540 from JB hi fi.

Hey Ron,

My best mate bought one for his ipod, think it might have been belkin, cost around $100, and he raves about it. I heard it, no problems with volume.

Would your one have not been getting enough power? If you're still interested in following that avenue I'll ask him what it is.
