    Winch

I set mine up the other day, stripped and cleaned everything and regressed as the original grease is quite 'tacky'.
I drilled and tapped two holes on the winch motor and placed two elbow fittings. Ran some rubber hose from the top hole to the firewall just below the windscreen complete with a filter attached and the lower one I ran back to the air box turbo intake side
When you rev the engine the motor sucks air through the winch, this will cool the winch motor and also dry any moisture that has gotten into the winch motor
The winch motor is fully sealed around the ends as well as sealing off the original drain holes
Although the motor was not rusted previously it did show signs of high humidity and even running the winch motor only seems to add to the humidity factor and not really dry it out I am hoping that this fix will keep it running for a few more years
    Regards

Picked up some 90 degree parker pneumatic elbows and some 8mm poly tube. Also got a 1/4 BSP tap to cause some destruction.
Got a sintered metal breather filter and an 8mm push fitting adapter for the top end, and should have enough parts lying around in the parts box for attaching it back to the air compressor.

Hydraulics shops are like a big kids candy shop... but damn it's expensive

My winch motor has an air inlet that allows air from a small air pump (air mattress pump???") to pressurise it when submersed - this keeps the water and mud out of the motor.

That's my other strategy to keeping water and mud out of the winch!

    Looks good.

Just finsihed tapping 1 of the 1/4 BSP holes in the winch motor case. No turning back now I guess...

Funny how slow I was picking up the intent here. In another life I drove coaches, pretty much anywhere. The good ones had "bin blowers". Pump air into the luggage bins. This was, mainly, to keep dust out, but I suppose the principle.....

In this case no, I was in the industry for a long time and have personal contacts...
