Jate Rings

That appears to be a very poorly sized bolt for the job. The jate ring is pulling onto a threaded section instead of the bolt shank.

Query? Does the jate ring pivot on the bolt when fitted, or are they set and bolted up tight gripping the chassis rail?

The one's I had made look like Defender 200TDI's, just not as pretty.

Zook I think you need to use them in pairs with a bridle between them to distribute the weight and then they are (hopefully [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img] ) strong enough.

Disconut they are bolted up tight so they don't move

I got them put on yesterday. They were a bit more trouble than I expected :evil: . I also put in raised Kings springs on the rear. They made a real difference.

That's right. Apparently the chassis on a Disco is not strong enough for a snatch recovery. If you use the two jate rings the load is spread betwen the two sides of the chassis and reduces the load enough that it doesn't rip the bolts out of the mounting points. Hopefully 8) :? 8O

I had no idea what it stood for :oops: :oops: . I think they were originally designed for tie down points, but have been used for recovery since then.

Now that is a worry - we have what is supposedly a top class 4wd and its chassis is not strong enough to be snatched [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]

This is enough to send me back to an old series 1 - anyone want to buy a 11 year old disco with only 101,000 km on it.

What I will get for it will just about get me into a nice series 1. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif[/img]
