    Oil Seal question

    Quick novice question:

when replacing press in rubber oil seals (axle, diff pinion, hub etc) do i need to apply anything like grease or jointing compound between the outer of the seal and metal housing?

I thinking no but not sure?

    cheers
    Ben

Should be greased or oiled when fitting - also grease the inner lip before assembling as well.

Hi, be aware that the front drive shaft seal saga is not over, the ONLY ones which are not too tight from factory these days are still the NAK seals, fortunately for you they are available in OZ: NAK Front Axle Driveshaft Hub Seal Fit Land Rover Discovery 2 Range Rover P38 | eBay
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned
