    Temp sender adapter for Radiator hose

    When I was a young fella I put a temp gauge on my Model A Ford.(first car).
    It was a two piece adapter with a curved plate inside and out with a nut that tightened it altogether with a hole in the centre for the sender. This went on the top hose.
    I have rung around the usual outlets but no one has heard of them.
    Anyone know if they are still available or will I need to make my own.?

    Standard model a had an atmospheric coolant system so no pressure. I would imagine that because cars have now got pressurised systems this sort of fitting would not be used. Instead either slipping the sensor under the hose or using an in line adapter is what I have seen if no screwed fitting is already in the head or thermostat housing.

    Find a bit of copper tube the same I.D as your hose, solder a fitting to take your temp prob,
    And fit into your hose

    I did not actually want it for a temp sensor but wanted to adapt it to take another small hose from the bottom of the rad to the coolant tank.
    I am putting a 200tdi into a S1 88" and its all a tight fit. The bottom hose is just a tight short bend so I could not fit Tombies union in there, but on reflection as a previous poster said the system is under pressure and may blow out. I was hoping not to have to cut into the bottom tank but it looks as if I may have to.
    Flame soldering so close to the tank seam worries me and I have just had it recored. I cant think of another way to join up the two ATM . I suppose I could go back to the old system of just an overflow recovery but the Disco bottom hose thing seems better.

    G`day ,

    i don`t know about hose diameters but you may be able to modify something like this and then it`s a known part that just needs to be altered but easily procured or have a look at what a parts place can supply from whatever make .

    Looking at pictures of 200Tdi water pumps on the web I'd be more likely to drill and tap the water pump, or just tee into the heater hose circuit. Either way the water will cheerfully run downhill into the lower part of the radiator.

    Thanks, similar to a disco one. I would do that but need a T right on the rt angle bend.
    I will investigate bee utey,s idea. Once I have the engine running, and if it seems OK I will pull the pump and front to change the belt so could do the mod then

    I used what tombie posted up to do exactly what you are saying but on my 4bd1t. Worked a treat

    Oops missed the tight fit bit
