    Whats it Worth: M A P winch

    Gents,

    Some guidance please:

I have been offered a Mayflower Automotive Products Winch,

i'm told it comes with the 'part that fits the motor'

so with the assumption that is complete (need to ensure the drive shafts are there too, what do you think its worth,

looks to me like the base plate may have been cut back? shouldn't there be another angle/flange off the back to mount it??

any ideas what age this would be and what series it may have come from?

being a MAP its got to be early? 50's?

    your thoughts please!

They work well, used to have one on my old 2a. Never needed to pull myself out of a bog, but used it around the folks property and to pull large logs onto Dads saw bench he cut his firewood on. (Would sometimes have to chain the back of the 2a to a tree so it didn't pull the car forward instead of the log backwards )

I carried around 40 meters of rope - it gave you good control over what you were pulling with it, but quite slow unless you had the hand throttle set quite high.

No idea on price - I was given that one - and it was nearly 30 years ago.

If if you're being offered it at what you think is a decent price, then go for it. If they're asking you to name a price, start at $50. I think they look good sitting on the front of a Series.
If you need to contact me please email [email protected] - thanks - Gav.

Yeah I used it a few times to pull myself out of sticky situations on the farm. Easy to use.

Supply and demand I suppose. Bottom line is - is it worth $650 to you? Personally I'm a haggler - my reply to that asking price would be $200 and go from there.
