Arghh....I hate plastic tanks and outlets. I bumped (not very hard either) the outlet for the overflow tank return line and broke it. Seriously why not alloy as standard. This is a new radiator that I just put it! Piece of crap. Anyway JB Welded so given its just a return line I hoping thats the go otherwise I will have to try to swap plastic tank from the old one for this one. X2 and I'd also extend it to plastic body parts in general. What with engine bay heat and the sun, after 10 years it doesn't take much to break things.
Went to get the radiator rodded in Lady P last year and one of the plastic header tanks cracked on removal. The XJ12 has a pretty unique setup so there was nothing in country and I ended up having to get a custom alloy one made up for about the same price as importing a genuine one from the UK.
As for Charlie my D2, we have had a steady breakage of plastic trim. In the last couple of years I've replaced cracked front bumper, windscreen wiper panel and one A pillar due to the effects of the sun. The steering wheel also got replaced early in life as well. Remaining A pillar and arch flares are starting to look ordinary so there are replacements in the spares cupboard waiting.
Cheers
Steve

Ozscott, now that you have the side tank removed do you have a picture of the inside of it in the location of the broken bleeder barb?
It might be possible if access was available, to drill it out and fit a brass hose barb with a threaded end, where you could nip up a nut from the inside?
I've never seen the inside of the tank so hence I'm asking.
Cheers, Mario

Hi Mario. Could do but plastic too thin for my liking. Pic attached mate. 20170129_123547.jpg
I will take a photo of inside when I get home. Truck sat mostly on high 70's and got to 83 idling this morning coming into Brisbane. Outside air temp a humid 27. 81 on Highway.
Cheers

					I like that idea, Roverlord.
I drilled hole out and screwed in fine threaded brass barb with high pressure gas/liquid thread sealant. See how that goes.

And don't forget to shorten that top screw before refitting it - don't want to puncture the tank.
