    Help with transfer case mount

Hi all, I'm new to english cars. My red 84 range rover is my new farm vehicle and it needs a new drivers side transfer case mount. I have a new one here. I have removed the lower bracket that bolts to the chassis rail but is there a tool that will get the upper nut off?
The steel bracket that attaches to the transfer case has me stumped too. I can see no way of removing it to gain access to the upper nut.
This seems ridiculously simple, what am I missing?

    Hi and welcome!

You need two tools... a solid shaft screwdriver steel through the handle and an American screwdriver ( aka a hammer ).

You make a notch hitting the nut with said tools at a tangent to the centre of the threaded part in the mount to get it to undo.

    Installation is the reverse.

Check to see if someone has cut a hole in the floor to access the nut too. Pretty common practice.

    Cheers,DL

If access is inadequate to get a ring spanner on any of the mount nuts and bolts, undo the other side chassis mount and lower the back of the TC until there is enough room. The last time I had a transfer case out was a slightly later model and I had no trouble undoing the mount off the TC. I just used a flat OE/ring spanner and a tube for leverage.
