dont think you would be able to tell the diff between a 200 or 300 tdi auto from the outside.
when you get it engineered, then its from a Disco tdi!!!
think you have been living in Switzerland too long!!!

mmm understand but as it is a Land Rover product i can't see too much of a problem.Originally posted by Grizzly_Adams
G'day Reads,
The problem is the insurance companies. They'll use anything they can to wriggle out of a claim :x
As such it would need to be properly certified to stop them from doing so 8O
I mean after the heaps of s**t i have seen driving on the road in Brisbane , doing that to a truck would be nothing. The amount of Toyota camarys that look about 10 years past their sell by date amazes me. In the Uk you would be arrested and have the book throwen at you for driving a car like that.

We used to put 4.6 range rover engines in 90's and stuff and put a 3.9 V8 cover on them. Insurance companys will open the bonnett and look and not strip the engine down and mesure the stoke of the piston![]()

I have my meeting with the HR department tomorrow where I get to resign - yippee!![]()
Then because my boss and I get on we've organised that I only have to work until the end of Jan. but will keep getting paid until my "official" leaving date of the end of March (my termination notice period is 3 months - seems fairly standard over here 8O )
Either way I'm really looking forward to tomorrow, and looking forward even more to the end of Jan. when I start 2 months of house-cleaning![]()

Thanks for all the info and tips guys, I've taken it to heart.
ahhh the MOT is more indepth than Rego - so hence prob more important to have engineers reports in Aus than in the UK.Originally posted by Reads90
mmmm do you have to tell them we don't in the Uk![]()
Aslong as it goes and passes the MOT every year they don't give a dame anyway
I used to dread the annual MOT's - bloody examiner with his hammer on the chassis etc, then I have the first NSW Rego check on my Disco and laughted when it didn't even get put on the hoist!!!

I've sent Ashcroft transmissions an email asking a heap of questions.
I'll let you know the answers as soon as I get them.
Ok I've got a response back from Ashcroft Transmissions and their answers are as follows:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>> Do you supply the centre console for your conversion?
Yes, same as the Frogs one
> I have rock-crawler gears in my transfer case - these won't be affected
> by converting my Defender to an automatic will they?
No,
> Also I have heard that a 200Tdi ZF fitted to a 300Tdi is a better match
> (power / driving wise) because the 200Tdi ZF has different gearing...
> do you know if this is true and if so can you supply such a kit?
not true, same box.[/b][/quote]
So according to them the ZF in the 200tdi and 300tdi were the same ratios?
