That's brilliant that you're getting a warranty job done on it. I'd hate to have to pay for the repair bill.
A Patrols engine might have lasted, but the front end tends to fall off. they have a weak point in the front end and start cracking under the engine bay just forward of the firewall  quite a few of the ones out here are going now at less than 120k, a darn site more to fix than a head I do believe![]()

Had the same thing told to me by the Copper who looks after Enngonia (out of Bourke) while we were at the Louth races earlier this year.Originally posted by DiscoTDI

Congratulations Sith, appears there is an upside to this disaster. You're getting a new motor for nix! Apart from some inconvenience. How did you manage a warranty on a motor with 120000 ks on it? Just curious, cheers. GQ
One of my clients ( a bushie and a farmer) buys a new Patrol diesel very year or so, loves 'em.
Sith,
Any ideas what killed the motor? Any warning signs etc before failure?
Andrew
there were absolutly NO warning signs before she went , and the temp was half way .... literally went bang then stopped with the thermo fan running wild for over ten mins , wouldn't restart , not even a click from the starter , and right on my cross over on the driveway she dropped everything ......oil, water and a heap of steam and a knocking /creaking sound from the block .
The under bonnet sound proofing was soaking in oil , the plastic top that covers the motor was covered in a water and oil mix .
I have just rang the service manager who stated the motor is out and they will be stripping it down tomorrow so i can come and take some pic's .
The warranty issues , wwell i have not owned the vehicle for 3 months , it has a premium extended warranty .They did the vehicle inspection , they also have done every service and sold the vehicle from new .
They didn't even haggle or ask questions they just hooked in
At least you have got a good dealer who is willing to look after you and do the right thing. I found Gold City Land Rover In Kalgoorlie to be pretty good like that. Holden, Ford & Nissan are a different kettle of fish altogether and want to argue everything.
