    Ram assist steering

Has any one fitted one for these? Any feed back on how much it's helped with the steering? How hard was it to fit? Would you recommend it?

Why would you want one on a Disco?
Whats wrong with the PAS its got?
I fitted ram assist to a 2A Forward Control years ago and its worth it on those as they have heavy steering.

Big tyres, quite a few U.K. Companies sell them they fit where the steering damper goes and assist the steering box

Yah , I do know about them actually, I have fitted to two Series vehicles Ive had in the Past. And YES it would be very stupid to install one to assist PAS , You can either modify the valving on your existing Power steering box, or get a steering box that works . What you are proposing is quite ridiculous.

and if you knew about then you would not be asking the question, so take advice as given

I find the PAS to be very effective even with 265's on 16x8 -25 offset rims, usually i can steer 1 handed even offroad if required.

agreed, is more likely a problem with OP's steering geometry than lack of assist.

im not bloody proposing anything I'm asking a simple question as I have never seen it before

to tell someone they are idiotic forbasking a question shows what a dick you are, try thinking about how you answer next time

as I said there are servers UK companies making them for land rovers with powersteering so obviously they aren't as idiotic as you say FFS try being constructive instead of abusive

I fitted a ram PAS to my SIII, this made steering light and I could use a smaller sports steering wheel.

However, in wet clay there was no feel for the steering and this was dangerous. I cut the PS pump fan belt on that day, and got much better steering control.

It definately lacks the feedback of regular PS and I would never recommend it for a road going vehicle, especially in low traction conditions. It probably is good for low speed high traction rock crawls, but I wouldn't do that again.

I can't comment on it's impact over existing PS, but I suspect you will lose the feedback feel you need.
