Yes, that makes sense. I knew I should have been disconnecting before reversing and setting up for another pull, was just being lazy. That will teach me!!

    Thanks.
A bit of looking online and they seem like a good bit of kit. The Iskra motors look OK too - very slightly cheaper and both available locally.

    Ahhhh - the confusion!!
Was deciding on a motor to buy when a colleague at work pointed me to these Domin8r and Grande winches that a few members in his club have been pretty happy with:
    Winches , 4WD & Outdoor Products - Australia

A quick search online seems like a couple of members on here have them too with positive comments.
At around the same price as an unbranded replacement motor for mine its pretty tempting....

    Why?
High mounts put more strain on where the bull bar is mounted to the chassis and a high mount exposes synthetic rope to much more "UV" than a low mount.
    Where are the advantages ?

    Warn XD9000 motor grenade

Advantages are serviceability-you can do an oil change ,simplicity- 3 straight cut gears,speed-much less of a chore when it's quick , access-everything is easier to get to.
The upgrade list is long if you want.
They are big so packaging can be an issue but once you go black you'll never go back

I`ll ad some more The motor sits high so not out of sight in mud and water the braking is better and does not melt your rope , You can fit heavier and more rope on the drum than a sludge mount
The pros out weigh the cons in comparison

    So you're not a fan huh ??

Checked out the Bowmotors. Look good but I can't fit a Bow2 in the space between the chassis rails, and doesn't seem anyone locally has the Bow1 (not that I can find online anyway).
Pretty much decided on the Iskra. Will make a phone call in the morning to check its definitely the same length as my original.
