Calculating track width change with different rims

I'm struggling to find a thread on this. With VSB14 stating a track change of 50mm is max. How do you calculate the change with offset changes and rim size change.

The 110 (MY02) I purchase has dynamic 15x8 with a -25mm offset with 33/12.5/15. How do I calculate the track change (it's not just adding the offset as the rim width has changed). Can these rims be within that limit?

Offset is from the center of the rim and track width is from the center isn't it? So going from +33 to -25 is a 58mm increase in track width per side, so 116mm all up. Youll need extended mud guards for sure and if you want it all legal you can have it engineered.

I get that if the rim is the same width but when that changes too does that need to be factored in too or is it really that simple?

Rim offset is the difference between the centreline of the rim with reference to the bolt up face. Track is the distance between the centres of 2 rims on opposite sides of the same axle.

changing the rim width and/or the offset will vary the track.

Isn't there a time factor involved with this reg?

i.e. if the track width was 50mm over stock before the declaration of the reg it is N/A?

    just asking, DL

According to your top paragraph only the offest matters, which makes sense. Width does not affect track width.

Correct if the same offset is maintained. I would hazard a guess that anyone that fits different (typically wider) rims to their vehicle would not keep the same offset as this may affect wheel articulation/turn angle/etc.
