Yeah, sector shafts fail, looks like a fatigue failure with a few (usually close to 400,000km) on them.

Rangier Rover had one go on his 120 and he went off the road and through a farm fence, scared the willies out of him.
A few of the South American boys have had them fail too.

Apparently the D2 'box is stronger according to Adwest, but it won't fit.

Any thing mechanical can fail more likely failure in steering boxes is due to previous accident damage .Reading sierraferys post I think your gunna have to carry 3 or 4 spares
on a trip up the cape if you run larger tyres.Running 35" tyres an engine 25kg heavier than a 4bd1 I am now abit hesitant to take it out of the shed

Ive run those size tyres for over 15 years so yes they may have done the deed but it's taken a long time but why I was wondering if there is a stronger option
