Cracked head or Injector/ O rings / Washers

Looks like I have diesel going into the sump (I guess their is 2ltrs worth of diesel in their) in my 02 Disco TD5 with 368K on the odometer
From searching on this forum it seems the most likely cause is either cracked head, leaking injectors or leaking around the Orings and copper washers.
A few years back I had trouble with car starting in the morning (but no diesel in the oil) and the cause was leaking around the washers. At that time they thought one of the injector seats looked "worn" or recessed a bit further than all the others. The head was removed and checked for hardness and poriosity and it came back all okay.
This time the vehicle is starting as it should - no problems there but diesel has gotten into the sump oil.
I do not understand how a leaking injector or leaking O rings and washers would allow diesel into the sump? Would it not just over fuel that cylinder and give different symptoms - like my previous hard starting?
Do they normally crack around the injector ports? or some where else?
Or could the diesel be leaking into the sump some other way?

I am going to change the oil and filters and monitor to see how bad it is.

The orings seal the chamber that the injector sits in if they fail the diesel gets past them and into the sump

Don't take it to your local mechanic, take it to a Qualified Diesel injector specialist, Regards Frank.

That is what I am looking for at the moment. Called a stealer in Melbourne who I have used in the past to get an estimate of price. They said they do them often and should be a 3hr job if all goes well. I nearly fell off of my chair when he quoted me $1000 to $1500 for the job and that is with out getting the injectors tested - which they think that it is more likely an injector leaking than the O rings and washers.

If these arseholes think it might be the injectors leaking take your business elsewhere, @ $500 an hour, run don't walk Google Diesel Injector Services to find someone close to you, it really is a simple job, you need to know that each injector is numbered and that numbered injector must be put back in the hole it came from, can't mix them up.
There is probably a Tutorial on this Forum somewhere, Regards Frank.
