    Cu, probably explains why it tasted better in those days.

    I read that the reason we now commonly mix spirits is due to the poor quality of alcohol during the USA's prohibition period. Made the alcohol go further and hid the poor taste of cheap alcohol. Don't know if it's an urban myth or true as it was on the Internet.
