Anyone here do proper patch or mushroom plug repairs to tubeless tyres? What solvent do you use to clean the inside of the tyre?
I know you can get specialised cleaning solvents from tyre repair suppliers, but is there something more readily available like paint thinners or shellite that will work?

Awesome. Was wondering how critical the solvent was.
If its not then I won't bother

Having spent a year making the 'specialized stuff".
It's uncured rubber mixed with Benzene so the solvent would be Benzene or something with a similar chemical structure like toluene or Xylene or any of the ---ene's
Not that I'd want to play with any of the stuff.
But as said previously just abrading the surface would work just as well.

Something my dad use to do was after roughing up said surface prior to putting the patch on he would spread a bit of the rubber cement over the area then scrape it off with a knife effectively cleaning the surface, then he would reapply the glue and then the patch.
Never used solvents either. Just be a bit careful using angle grinder etc. Don't cut the cords in the tyre

Better still ........don't even think about using an angle grinder
How about acetone, i keep a small bottle in my tyre repair box.
Most d4 drivers will have some as well.
24 hrs and still no bites from the d4 drivers ,
