    Question TD5 camshaft plug pushing out - sign of excessive crankcase pressure? Is there a way

    The plastic camshaft plug on the front of my TD5 is pushing its way out which causes leaking oil. In approximately 40km since I reseated it, it had pushed it's way outwards. It's approximately two years old since being replaced with brand new genuine Land Rover part. Of potential relevance is that I installed a Provent 200 reasonably recently too. Is there a way to test for excessive crank case pressure in the motor?

    In the interim I've ordered a new BS330 viton o-ring to suit.

    Just undo the oil filler cap with engine running ,an engine in good condition will have near neutral pressure, how have you installed the provent?

    Pictures in the thread D2a TD5 - my Provent 200 installation - yes, I did have the lines the wrong way around initially but that was rectified quickly.

    I thought that tomorrow I might try to get a 3/4" or 19mm right angle piece so that I can remove the factory PCV valve from the system. I believe that the Provent has its own PCV built into it on the outlet.

    Also thought I might throw some silicone around the plugs o-ring until the new replacement o-rings come in.

    I removed the factory Land Rover PCV and replaced with a brass elbow < ProVent 200 Control Valve - does this make the factory PCV not required? > and replaced the o-ring seal on the camshaft plug with a new BS330 viton one - it's much much higher when refitting it and so far leak free.
