Try a sheet metal joint, They probably have the sheets that are use for making trays.
These sheets and some angle iron is all you will need![]()
Hi all,
I am currently in the process of building a tray for my ute and just got a price from a tray builder on some sides, they were $300 per side.
The trailer supply companys had some although the bottom return was the opposite way and they were too high at 320mm , 250mm is what im after.
So now find someone who can bend up some 1.6mm sheet.
Should i try a standard sheet metal shop , or would the ute tray builders buy it in bulk and if so where?
Any leads anyone?

Exactly what I'm after.
Location Menzies creek Victoria
I don't know of any out east. There must be plenty, though. Try around the industrial parts of Bayswater area.

I have steel sides on my tray that are slowly corroding. Unless you are going to let star pickets slide around in the back I would visit the wreckers and obtain a couple of aluminium sides complete with all the brackets and locks. Chequer plate on the floor is good but I would only use galvanised with 20/20 hindsight or have the bottom galvanised.
Insulmet in Moe have just bought a machine to bend these up
Just got quote back.
