    Thanks Philip, the previous owner (my step-dad) did the washers a little while back so I think I can eliminate that one.
    I've been thinking engine mounts sine day dot.

    The only reason I asked about the harmonic balancer is that I've heard they tend to let go, I remembered from years ago that Ross made one and with all the other elastomer and rubber things ageing badly why wouldn't the HB in mine ?
    My gut says engine mounts.

    If you want to confirm eng mounts , you'll see a hole in the bottom of the mounts if you measure from bottom of the hole to the rubber part of the mount and you have less than 5-10 mm then replace them .
