Any known problems with the p38 4.6 V8?

There has been some mention of common or known problems with the 4.6 V8 in the p38. I was not aware of any significant ones, and am probably buying an 01 model tommorrow week so if anyone could let me know what to look out for that would be fantastic.

Any other things to look out for would be muchly appreciated also.

    Cheers,

    Charlie

01 model should ok engine wise if the services are up to scratch, as said check ALL electricals, from what i've heard the later ones are good and rarely give problems.

What performance upgrades would you recommend for the P38???

If you're referring to 'more power' type upgrades I've got to say I'm not a believer in that for the P38a. Because of it's complex interlinked electrical systems, anything which changes the standard parameters causes troubleshooting grief in the event of a fault. I'm also of the opinion that the 4.6 has ample usable power in standard form if the engine is in good condition.

and what computer upgrades can you do with your rovercom system???

Rovacom is not able to upgrade the ECU's, which to the best of my knowledge are not actually upgradeable by anyone. All it can do is access the information provided by them. However there are quite a few international market settings which can be modified.

'One touch down' for all windows on the P38a for instance. This feature is available in the BeCM but in the Australian market only the drivers window has it enabled.

    Regards
    Howard
