I don’t buy it sorry. You can’t market a tyre for off-road use then deny a warranty because it was taken off-road. There are consumer protections in place for that.

The Cooper ST MAXX marketing says 50% road and sand, 50% dirt and mud.

    Take it to Consumer Affairs.

Tread delaminating........apparently only happens with off-road damage and/ or low Tyre pressures Buying Cooper tyres....Any suggestions?

The 2 brand new Bloopers that delaminated on a friends D2 did so within 50km of each other.

The first one of the set of 5, delaminated after 1200km of Highway between Melbourne to Adelaide and was on the return journey.

The second one to delaminate did so within 50km and was the new spare, fitted to the replace the original failure.

The damage was extensive to the vehicle and should never have occurred.

    Don't. Just don't.
you will strap them on for 300 kms and replace them with a better tyre.
The only reason they last a long time is because the tread is deeper. the balance, road feel road noise and performance are poor on Cooper Tyres.

Check out Toyo. A far better product!

That's the same way I discovered Toyo. Got a set about 6 years ago because they were half price. Thought they were cheap crap, only to find they are a brilliant well wearing tyre.
the AT feels nice on road, powers through sand, and is tough on rocks.
until then I was a Bridgestone fan.

i am yet to here a fair dinkum positive comment about Cooper tyres.

The ST's we fitted to the ex's GU ute back in about '03 worked really well in the black, gloopy soil on the farm and had good wet weather grip when she was towing the horses and I never tore a tread block off, mainly as we never drove rocks, but...

They scared me as the sidewalks micro-cracked very early on and they chipped badly on the shale roads we drove on (supposedly fixed with the introduction of the softer compound Max)

Went to BFG AT's and apart from much worse mud performance, they never gave me pause for thought and she got an extra 30,000km out of them.

I read quite a few recomendations for the BFG KM2, I've personally seen quite a few issues with these over the years. First one was a work mate whose troopy ended up on its roof after one delaminated at highway speed. My brother in law has had one delaminate (at low speed) and he's had about 4 or 5 of them develop tread seperation - Im suprised he still runs them to be honest. recently I seen another delaminate on one of the 4wding in WA youtube videos.

I've just put a set of Toyo open country AT2 onto my disco. Will see how they fair compared to the bridgestone AT's they replaced.
